Jessica Celious was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona respectively to a father from New Orleans, Louisiana with ancestry originating from the French colonized African country Guinea and an American English-Irish mother. Her mother’s great grandfather was Edward A. Ross one of "Founding Fathers of Sociology" in American history and the Tuthills (Tuthill Spring Company) These influences may have not made her rich in money but may have influenced her depth in understanding of human nature that allows for very interesting song writing and perspective.
After her parents separated she lived with her young mother and brother through difficult times that lead to a strength of character and a passion to understand why life is as life is. These many experiences not only made her the strong women she is but found her a voice of purpose and meaning which she delivers threw her song writing and performance. Direct, honest and nothing less than soulful is what you will get from this saucy songstress. Music not only runs though her body and soul, it runs within her veins and family tree as well, her Great Grandfather, Gilbert Ross was a violinist, whom released his own album Cradle of Harmony which allowed him to share his gifts traveling all over the world. Gilbert was also the Professor of Music at the University of Michigan, as well being the founder and first violinist.
Jessica started her musical journey in the first grade choir, then progressed in a more professional manner in her early & early teenage years, doing shows and recording at 15 in a 5 member group called "As One". With an upbringing that included the influenced of a broad selection of music including classic rock, soul, and jazz and gospel some of her favorites were such influences as Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Prince, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Stevie Nicks, Fiona Apple, Tina Marie and many more. Her resume and work is quite impressive, which includes several collaborative efforts & projects with big names that range from a broad spectrum that includes television, major motion pictures, radio (here in the united states & abroad), jingles and internet & nationwide commercials. Her current music & up-coming opus Melody's of Life is an album that has been a few years in the making, due to her dedication and motivation for making timeless music that the public will love the world over. Her specific musical credits is a laundry list of who's who in the entertainment business, which include: George Clinton, Chaka Khan, Eric Clapton, The Game, Marcus Miller, Dan Folihart, Aqua Box (Lee Curreri from fame), and KRS-ONE in music. In television, the list continues with; Charlie's Angels, Love Bites, Everybody Hates Chris, Without a Trace, Ever-wood, Wild Fire, Eight Simple Rules, Seventh Heaven, and MTV. In film she rounds it out, with Chris Rock's Good Hair, I Think I Love My Wife, and Exit Wounds starring Steven Segal & DMX under her belt as well.
Jessica’s genre of music can be described as a hybrid of Adele meets Jill Scott; Mainstream Soul/Pop. Her technical expertise in musical arrangements includes producing her own album, writing melodies and lyrics. As far young as 13 years old, Jessica Celious has been pursuing this particular career and has established a fan following due to her extensive live performances that astound audiences with a commanding voice and song line-up that few unsigned artists can duplicate. She is happily humbled to have over 15,000 and a continually growing fan base following her online between Myspace, Facebook, Reverbnation, and Jango internet radio. The 1st single off her album is titled "Love Crime", which was written by Jessica and produced by Dae One/Cori Jacobs. The inspiration for the song came from her own experiences as well as from other shared stories of women she has met along the way." I have felt this way before, when someone has pushes you to the point of thinking in a way that is not really you, then looking back at the choices that were in front of you and actually express that feeling".
