Jeremy Kay has been making records since the mid 90’s. Based in Southern California, he spent roughly seven years with the indie label Surfdog Records. On Surfdog, he enjoyed mostly regional success and a myriad of TV and film placements, including songs on ‘Step into Liquid’, ‘The Wedding Planner’ and ‘Scrubs.’ J. Kay’s tune ‘Have it All’ even managed a kind of ‘bubbling under’ success, due to its inclusion on the Scrubs Soundtrack record. Most recently you could hear Kay’s songs on such shows as ‘Cupid’, ‘Samantha Who’ and ‘LA Ink.’
At the heart of J. Kay’s music is an organic blend of thoughtful lyrics, soulful grooves and sing-able melodies. And though Kay’s music has been compared to other SoCal troubadors (see Jack Johnson and G Love), his sound is very much his own.
His most recent release is titled ‘Cool Morning’, and is a return to a more guitar driven, singer/ songwriter sound. The title track, ‘Cool Morning’ ventures into a folksy, almost country sound at times, while tunes like ‘Then Its Gone’ showcase the singer’s soulful voice. Other standouts include ‘While You Still Can,’ a light-hearted acoustic rock jam, and ‘Your Table’, a poignant song about the power of a parent’s love.
Jeremy Kay is currently living, writing and producing music in Dallas, TX.
