Awarded San Francisco Bay Guardian's 'Best of the Bay 2011' and SF Weekly's 'Best of San Francisco 2011,' Janice Whaley is a unique singer who uses her voice to create all instrumentation entirely out of samples of her voice edited in ProTools. In 2010, Janice took on the Herculean task of covering every song by The Smiths in one year, using only voice as her sound source. She recorded everything in her home studio on a laptop while her family was at work and preschool. Each song has between 30 to 50 layers of voice that give these classic songs a stunning, lush and unexpected twist. Janice's arrangements have won over even the pickiest of Smiths fans worldwide.

In one short year comprised of 1300 hours of singing, Janice has turned herself into a unique up-and-coming talent with a large fan base that continues to grow. In 2011, Curt Smith, Co-Founder of Tears For Fears requested to work with Janice to create an a cappella single for the re-release of his Mayfield album. In 2012, Janice collaborated with James Roday, star of USA Network's television show Psych to create duet for Curt Smith's birthday. Currently Janice is working on a Duran Duran cover song requested by Simon Le Bon.

Janice's music is can be found at any of the major online music distribution sites such as iTunes and, and physical CDs with complimentary digital downloads can be purchased directly from Janice at
