Inspiration Compilation, reshapes Contemporary Christian Music
Anthony Striggles’ latest album garners great interest and appeals to music lovers across the board
Detroit, MI (December 3, 2010)-- Songwriter and Producer, Anthony Striggles has just released an eagerly anticipated album, Inspiration Compilation, which is a smooth collection of melodic tracks showcasing the talents of some of Gospel’s greats. The collaborative project features songs written by Stan Jones, Algie Striggles, Rayford Ellison, David P. Stevens, Anthony and the late James Striggles. Created as a tribute to his brother, James, Anthony engineered this album to seamlessly blend Contemporary Christian and traditional Gospel with elements of Modern Jazz.
After James’ passing on January 30, 2003, shortly after recording the album’s last song, Anthony felt as though this project, which began eleven years prior, had to be completed. Anthony says, “I may be partial, but I feel as though James was a great writer and producer. He didn’t do faddish music, instead he created songs that are timeless.”
While most of the songs featured on Inspiration Compilation were recorded between 1999 and January 30, 2003, they still resonate and deliver a relevant message today. Tracks like “Providence,” which features the musical prowess of David John and Tim Reeves, offers up soothing guitar melodies and saxophone sounds against lyrics that praise God’s perfect plan. “Clean Heart,” featuring Stan Jones and Patti Bijou, veers on the soulful side with thoughtful lyrics set to a soft beat. While “Grace & Peace” gives listeners that classic Christian track laced with piano melodies and interlude tracks like “Shepardlude” serves up breathy chants of comfort. Anthony has filled the album with memorable songs that reflect the steadfast spirit of his brother. He notes that one of his favorite songs on the album is “Heaven to Me,” which he co-wrote with David P. Stevens. He speaks to duality of the lyrics, “...it could be the love shared between two people, or it can be the relationship between God and Man. I leave the interpretation up to the listener.”
Inspiration Compilation, which is now available for download on iTunes, takes its place as a revolutionary piece in the Christian genre. The album, without much effort, changes the way listeners will approach Contemporary Christian as it brings in a host of fresh sounds, new uses of percussion, earthy elements, new methods and interpretive lyrics. It is Christian music for a modern age. Anthony says of Inspiration Compilation, “"My hope is that this music moves the listener, and is an escape from what is hectic in their life.”
