“…If you can hear in your mind something that mixes the heavy riffs of Mastodon, the trance-inducing vocals of Alice in Chains, the mysticism of The Tea Party and the psyschedelic sensibilities of early Pink Floyd, you might be on the right track for describing I Saw The Deep. All of that combined in a tight sounding package that does not meander around aimelessly makes for a singularly entertaining listen..” Rock Music Critic (US)
I Saw The Deep initially started out at the end of 2010 as a solo-project by singer/guitarist Darrell Laclé, but manifests itself nowadays as a powertrio, with Brian Kruit on bass and Yuheng Ng behind the drumkit. Since its inception the band has done a couple of mini international tours (CA, UK, AW) beside the local shows, with showcases at Indie Week Toronto 2011 as one of the highlights so far.
I Saw The Deep produced its debut record entitled “Astronavigation” in the spring of 2012, with Laclé himself behind the knobs and instrumentation. The album artwork is done by Darrell as well.
An animation music video clip made by visual artist Ken Wolff was previously released of the 1st single “Phantom Island”, in anticipation towards the album.
“Astronavigation” is digitally available on different online platforms such as iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and Bandcamp. A digipack CD version was released in Februari 2013 on http://isawthedeep.bandcamp.com.
