Originating from one of the most isolated cities in the world, Perth hard rockers, Hailmary are rapidly becoming a shining example of what the modern rock world has to offer.
Combining big grunge tinged riffs with a classic rock-sprinkled approach, you won’t find any cheap hooks here!
With a passionate delivery and hard work ethic the band aren't afraid to step out of their comfort zone. This was evident when recording their debut album “Choice Path Consequence Solution”, (released West Coast Nov 2012, Victoria Feb 2013) that saw the band travel to Atlanta, Georgina USA to work with accomplished producer Jeff Tomei (Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Matchbox 20, Corrosion of Conformity).
The debut album features Josh Sattler, formerly of Atlanta based DoubleDrive and Speed X playing bass on three tracks on the album. The debut takes the bands sound to another level with tracks like “Yellow Light of Death” and “Monday Mundane” showcasing the bands heavier side, while tracks like “Reminiscence” and “Running Away” offer a more commercial radio sound.
This is the second time Hailmary have worked with Tomei, having firstly recorded their second EP “A Million Miles and Days” in 2009 with him. After the completion of that EP the band gigged around the South East of America for the first time playing a highlight gig at Kennesaw State University’s open day to over a thousand people.
Coming back to Australia, they launched their much anticipated second EP featuring straight up hard rock sounds with tracks like “Live It and Breathe” and “Bringing Out the Best” having received international air-play on commercial, college and Internet radio.
With a widely appealing rock sound, Hailmary have shared the stage with many big name Aussie rock and alternative metal outfits including The Screaming Jets, Electric Mary, Mammal and Full Scale as well as playing acoustic dates on the national tour with ARIA nominees Thirsty Merc and Rai Thislethwayte.
In their first year, Hailmary won the 2006 WAM Song of Year in the heavy rock/metal category and received further nominations in 2007 and 2008. All three winning and nominated songs later appeared on their debut EP “Lottery of Life” which was released through Firestarter Distribution in 2008 to sold out hometown crowds. The EP received acclaim by national press, often comparing it to the grunge sounds of the early 90’s with a modern edge.
Earlier in 2012 Hailmary released the first single from the debut album, a split A side called “Reminiscence / Two Wrongs” which has received airplay on commercial radio and independent radio around the world. In support of this release the boys toured the East Coast three times in 2012, including playing at the inaugural Rock N Load Festival at The Espy in Melbourne as well as sharing the stage with some of Australia's best up and coming rock acts including Electric Mary, King of The North, My Left Boot and Bugdust.
2013 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet for Hailmary as they launch their debut Album “Choice Path Consequence Solution” to the East Coast of Australia as part of their Victorian tour (Feb 14-23) including Rock The Bay at The Espy on February 16 and then working on a plan to tour the East Coast of the USA for 2013/2014.
