<bio>Brother duos have been a staple throughout folk, country and pop history, but there haven't been many identical twin acts. That's where Evan and Jaron Lowenstein come in. The Atlanta-based folk-pop duo may have a unique visual gimmick that seduces the media (even if the brothers made it a point <I>not</I> to promote their twinhood), but it's their blend of classic melodic songwriting and irreverent humor that earned them a cult following in the late '90s.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Evan & Jaron were given Discmans for their bar mitzvah. Shortly afterward, they became immersed in music, particularly melodic folk-pop in the vein of Simon & Garfunkel. During college, they began performing in local clubs. The duo quickly earned a devoted local fanbase through their regular performances at KaLo's Coffee House. Their independent 1995 album, Live at KaLo's Coffee House, was a hit and started a buzz around the group. In 1997, they signed with Island Records. Their major-label debut, We've Never Heard of You, Either, was released in the spring of 1998. Their self-titled follow up, which marked their debut on Columbia, appeared two years later. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide</bio>
