Elen Cora lives, sings and records in Novosibirsk, Russia.
Elen Cora (Elena Korennykh) was born on February 2nd 1985 in a beautiful Siberian city, Krasnoyarsk (Russia).
First song was written by Elen when she was 11 years old. She started taking voice lessons when she was 15 with a professional opera singer, Alla Severyanina. Alla, who used to sing with an acclaimed baritone, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, also from Krasnoyarsk, recognized Elen's vocal talent and encouraged her to pursue a singing career.
Elen's parents, however, wanted her to go to college, and Elen enrolled in Krasnoyarsk University, where she studied foreign languages. After four semesters Elen decided to follow her passion, and left the university for a full-time singing career. Now all her time was devoted to the music she loved!
Almost all of Elen's songs are in English because her favorite artists sing in English - Modern Talking, C.C.Catch, Sandra, Enigma... These bands were incredibly popular in Europe and in Russia in the 80-s and in the early 90-s.
She was listening to their songs and her dream was to sing like Sandra and C.C.Catch... To sing in English and to be as famous as they are...
Elen gave concerts, wrote her own songs and sang in bands where she was the lead singer. It was all what she wanted from her life!
In 2008 she teamed up with Russian Italo Disco enthusiasts, and started working on her own album of Disco songs. Two very talented composers, Oleg Rysev (aka Olegris) and Alexander Korolev (aka Abbsynth) together with Andrew Mosckalev (the lyricist), wrote ten beautiful songs in a classic Italo Disco style. The demo album, called "Inside My Disco" was digitally released at the end of 2009, and instantly became popular on the internet. These songs were played on internet radio stations in Poland and in Serbia. The fans from all over the world were making amateur photo mixes and even videos for these songs. It seems that many people were very happy that Disco music is still being produced, and is well and alive.
Finally, in 2010, "Sleeping in Your Hands", a song from the "Inside My Disco" album was selected for a compilation of best contemporary Italo and Euro Disco. The compilation CD "Italo Euro Disco Vol. 1" was released by a US-based label Space Sound Records in 2010.
At the same time, Elen started to work with Vitaly Polozov - a disco music composer, based in Novosibirsk. They quickly fell in love and married in 2009. Together, they started a project called "Siberian Heat", where Elen is the lead singer. The songs from Siberian Heat are in English, but are rooted both in Russian Disco and Euro Pop traditions. They were warmly received by Disco lovers, - the 2010 Siberian Heat release "Flute Cries" was holding #1 placement in the charts of Club037 Serbian Radio for several weeks.
In 2009 Elen moved to Novosibirsk, and all of her newer songs (No Less No More, Tightrope Dancer, In Your City, Angel's Heart, Sorry, and Flute Cries) are professionally recorded in a Novosibirsk studio.
In 2010 Elen started to work with Anna Gavrilova (San Francisco, California), who wrote lyrics of some of newer Elen's songs (Tightrope Dancer, No Less No More).
Tightrope Dancer placed in the semi-finals of the 100% Music Songwriting Contest in 2010 ("electronic" section).
In 2010 Elen and Vitaly became parents of a daughter, Anastasia.
In 2011, Elen released her first vinyl LP titled "Number One" with a Netherlands-based label, Energy Level.
In 2012 Siberian Heat released their first album, "Mystic Time" on CD. The album is available on the discogs database.
