Deliverance has been in the Gospel Music Ministry since the mid 1980s as one of the first artist signed to Tyscot Records. This group was on the cutting edge of what was considered Urban Contemporary Gospel Music. During the early days of Urban Contemporary Gospel there was no category to define this music style in such organizations as the Grammy, the Stellar and the Dove Awards. Once it became apparent that Urban Contemporary Gospel was here to stay, Deliverance was recognized for its contributions to gospel music. The group was ultimately nominated for Grammy, Stellar and Dove Awards and received three Gospel Music Excellence Awards. Deliverance was number one in “Black Radio Exclusive Magazine” and entered Billboard Magazine with a bullet. Deliverance’s music could be heard across the United States and Canada, and as far away as Guam and Saudi Arabia. Deliverance has shared the stage with many Gospel greats including the Winans, Commissioned, John P. Key, etc. Through music production and song writing the group has also played a part in music for Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Keith Sweat, The 3 T’s, Bobby Brown, KC and JoJo, Debardge, Phil Perry and Kut Klose, just to name a few. Throughout our association with our fellow musicians, both secular and gospel it has always been understood who we were, and what we stand for. We are proud to say that each member of Deliverance has been called to the ministry as preachers and teachers along with being psalmists. God is always first in our lives! Deliverance is very excited to extend our ministry and gospel influence with this new project “Masquerade”.
