Day Of Gray from Tucson Arizona currently consist of only Rick Obsidious who writes, sings, fakes the guitar and uses a drum machine. Rick admits the music is basic, raw and unpolished, that's just Rick's style. Rick simply describes the music as Rock and says "after that you can subclass it however you feel".
Day Of Gray unofficially formed sometime in 1994, with the members being Rick (now know as Rick Obsidious) as the lead singer and lyricist, a bass player named Doug (last name long forgotten), a lead guitarist named Jay (last name also long forgotten) and a drummer (who's name is completely forgotten). After about six months the drummer (who often didn't show up anyway) never came back and had apparently moved. Next the bass player Doug bailed saying his wife didn't want him back in a band again. That left Jay and Rick and for the next six months they worked together on several songs, but Jay's heart was no longer in it, he quit to focus on giving guitar lessons. Rick continued using the name Day Of Gray and writing lyrics, practicing singing and setting some basic guitar music using the only thing he knew, power cords.
Over the next three years there were random people that join and departed who's names were not worth remembering. By 1998 Day Of Gray was in a indefinite off again on again hiatus, but Rick maintained using the name Day Of Gray when referring to the body of work he had created, working on his music only occasionally. In 2008 though only the spirit of Day Of Gray remained, the stirrings began in Rick to revive Day Of Gray, so over the next two years little by an he started back to work writing and singing at home. By early 2010 Rick had decided he would publish competed songs on his own under the name Day Of Gray, he purchased some inexpensive equipment towards that end. Rick published each Day Of Gray song individually on the internet as they were finished (free when downloaded individually), then he collected the first six songs into the Day Of Gray album titled Fallout Shelter, it was officially released on DayOfGray.com in June of that year under his independent and unofficial labels Burning Crown Media (BurningCrown.com) and Thersitical Recordings (Thersitical.com). "Between the dark and the light it is gray".
