The Davis Fountain
The Davis Fountain is new music that flows from the voice and spirit of 28-year-old Davis Fontanes. While describing music is pretty much a worthless pursuit, let’s go with Top 40/Dance featuring a new bag of tricks including elements of New Wave, Goth and Industrial – the music Davis grew up with – from Nine Inch Nails to Duran Duran. Live drums, guitars, bass and killer percussion join with modern and classically written synth sounds on the tracks. While that sounds like a lot of ingredients in the stew, once you hear it you’ll understand that it’s all about well-crafted pop songs performed by a new voice, produced with experience, passion and energy.
To achieve this bold, sexy and always dance-able sound, Davis and management company Astron Productions called upon long-time radio tastemaker and Creative Director Dennis “The Menace” Scheyer (DTM). Scheyer’s role on the project involves every aspect of The Davis Fountain music and brand.
Davis and DTM worked together with new co-songwriters and commissioned original songs. The tracks were recorded at studios in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, mixed at Trilogy Studios in San Francisco and mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood, CA. (Recent Grammy winner for Black Eyed Peas.)
The record is inspired by all three cities from the grittiness of “MoneyWithYourNameOnIt”, a New York funk anthem to “Hide n’ Seek”, an irresistibly hooky dance tune with an edge and the trippy-hoppy free-form ride of “Chase The Rain”.
Special guests on the tracks include: Matt Fink (Prince’s keyboard player on albums including “Purple Rain”), Michael Urbano (superstar drummer from Smashmouth and tons of others) and percussionist PC Munoz (collaborator with Jackson Browne, Joan Jeanrenaud and more.)
