David Roy Parsons was born and largely raised in Ottawa Ontario. Upon moving to Vancouver in the late 90’s he began recording original songs, going on his first regional tours and occasionally taking his show east to Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. While combining his talent with music and his skills as a youth worker, he ran a music and recovery group in Vancouver for young survivors of brain injury. Since then he has co-written and had songs recorded and performed with such indie acts as T. Nile, Raghu Lokanathan, and Joey Only, as well as some performers in the U.S. David is currently touring Canada to do shows as well as to record songs for a fourth album, a follow up to 2007’s Matters of Survival.
“I have to say that David Roy Parsons is the best new songwriter I've found in the last couple of years. I don't say that lightly. I've played several hundred gigs in about 10 countries in that time. His lyrics remind me of John Donne, and his melodies are undeniable. He's sophisticated and straightforward at the same time, like Hank Williams. If you care about songwriting, don't deny yourself the pleasure of listening to this man.”
