“On a mission to succeed with faith doing what I was born to do and the rest will be left for you to see”
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. This saying couldn’t be more true for East San Diego Rap Artist DYoung. He embodies this and expresses it through his music where he turns his life into lyrical magic. DYoung captures the listeners’ ear with his down to earth, poetic rhymes and real life struggles, cleverly matched with a beat that is sure to keep you wanting more.
Born and raised in San Diego, CA and being part of a family of 6 it is easy to understand that struggle is real. DYoung learned of his talent for rap and poetry at the age of twelve, It was then that he decided that music is the career path he wanted to take in life. Creativity never came hard for DYoung.
DYoung started free styling and writing his own lyrics at the age of 10. It wasn’t until he met Rap Producer Baby k in 2005, when DYoung first stepped on the rap scene in San Diego. When he was only 17years old he joined indie Record Label (S.O.P) Smokeoneprod. In 2006 DYoung dropped an underground Mixtape called Warning b4 Destruction Selling 1000 copies hand to hand. In 2007 DYoung departed from S.O.P. and Joined partnership with Grizz of NoireEnt. Late 2009 DYoung left Noire Ent and started his own Indie Label Called Dolla Gettin Ent (DGE). He signed 1 Rap artist to his label by the name of JD. And the rest is history in the making.
DYoung has performed in many venues in San Diego, California. From his own Mixtape Release Party’ at Static Lounge to ‘The Norie Ent Presents: West Coast Shakedown’ where DYoung hosted, performed and sold out the Venue. DYoung continues to broaden his fan base by performing outside of his hometown. In places like Lemoore, CA. as well as Los Angles, CA. DYoung is not a stranger to giving back to his community. He displays his positive and inspiring message by preforming at such events as the ‘Kuuba Fest Showcase’. Although, there was a number of talented artists performing that evening, DYoung stepped onto the stage as a complete unknown and exited a crowd favorite leading him to be the only rap act that made it the final drawing.
