Caroline Swetlitz was born January 20, 1994. She discovered her love of music and singing at an early age, and began developing her own unique sound when she first picked up a guitar at age 10.
"I always enjoyed singing, but it wasn't until I learned to play the guitar that I really saw singing as a means of expressing myself rather than just as something I did for fun to pass the time." says Swetlitz.
Swetlitz wrote hundreds of songs all throughout middle school, but kept them to herself. "I never really showed anyone just because it would have been like leaving my diary open in the cafeteria!" laughs Swetlitz. Eventually, however, Caroline's friends discovered her songs and lyrics and soon enough, word spread about her musical talent. "It started off as just me showing them a song I had written," explains Swetlitz, "and I didn't know at the time, but they were secretly recording me. The next day I got on the computer and all of a sudden a video of me singing was all over the Internet! I am so glad that my friends did that, because it gave me the push I needed to go out and do something with my music."
The response that the video elicited was enough to convince Swetlitz to move away from the privacy she preferred concerning her music to performing around her hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. At this point, Swetlitz began playing shows in the Raleigh/Durham area, performing with several other talented musicians.
"My favorite thing about being involved in the music scene in Raleigh is all of the people. Everyone is so supportive of one another, and you tend to see the same faces at various open mics and shows around town."
Swetlitz continues to play shows around North Carolina. She is currently a junior in high school, and is heavily involved in her academics and various clubs. She hopes to one day record a full-length album and go on tour around the country-- or the world. "Playing music and seeing the world...I don't know what else I could hope for in a career."
Swetlitz's music speaks for itself, and her drive is evident. "My number one goal is to have people singing the words that I wrote in my notebook on my bedroom floor."
