Biography

Daniel Victor Snaith (born 1978) is a mathematician and a composer, musician and recording artist under stage names Caribou and Manitoba.

Snaith was born in London, Ontario, Canada. His early life was spent in the Province of Ontario's Golden Horseshoe region, first in Dundas and later in Toronto. Snaith attended Parkside Secondary School and later studied mathematics at the University of Toronto. He then moved to the United Kingdom and continued his postgraduate studies at Imperial College London. After completing his PhD (His thesis, titled Overconvergent Siegel Modular Symbols, was written under the direction of Kevin Buzzard.) in 2005 at Imperial College London he chose to remain in England where his father, Victor Snaith, is a mathematics professor at the University of Sheffield, and sister Nina Snaith is a reader in mathematics at the University of Bristol. Snaith currently resides in London, United Kingdom.
