Bodhi Rock (pronounced Bow - as in "Bowtie" - dee) is a collaboration of working LA musicians and schoolmates who came together in late 2009 to push the boundaries
of roots music. Their unique sound combines elements of the many diverse musical styles thriving in Los Angeles to form the reggae fusion that is Bodhi Rock. The band came together in the Citrus College music program where they all
received very extensive and diverse musical training. The Members of Bodhi Rock have also worked independently with known LA bands and touring acts including Gwen
Stefani, The Mike Pinto band, Iration, Pato Banton, The Melodians, Frankie Paul, Quinto
Sol, Mystic Roots, and many more…
The band released its first single "Cali Life" in the summer of 2009, which was mixed and produced by John Avila (Oingo Boingo, Reel Big Fish, Quetzal). They would follow it up in 2011 with their recent EP release, demonstrating their musical versatility and strong technical command.
Meanwhile, Bodhi Rock has been performing all around California. Sharing the stage with artists such as Katchafire, Collie Buddz, Ooklah the Moc, Rootz Underground,
Ky Mani Marley, Mike Pinto Band and more.. They also appeared at the 2010 Sierra Nevada World Music Festival and Monterey Bay Reggae Festival as the backing band for UK lovers rock legend Lloyd Brown.
Overall, The unique sound combines elements of a funk, R & B, rock, jazz, island, reggae rock, and more. Bodhi Rock’s EP debut mixes a pure blend of the perfect ingredients; breakdowns, build ups impeccable vocals, concrete reggae rhythms, inventive keys, carousing guitars, all topped with the blazing “Air Society” horn section. A combo that will definitely create some waves within the scene!
