Atrus is an alternative metal band hailing from the Oklahoma metro area. After their formation in the summer of 2009, they have come up with a mission statement: their sole purpose is to create powerful, and always unique music that is good for any time, any generation. This is exactly what is being accomplished; and within two and a half years of partnership, there are no signs of hindered progress. Known for their captivating shows and heavy hitting songs lyrically and musically, Atrus aims to give the audience everything they have as showmen and thoughtful writers. Many bands tend to conform to one sound and writing style these days, but this is not completely so with Atrus. Every song is it’s own carefully crafted entity which helps to set each apart from another. Atrus has been likened to some of the industry’s great acts like Breaking Benjamin, Alter Bridge, Dream Theater, Alice in Chains, and Metallica. The interlacing melodies and hard-hitting guitar riffs of Sam Dunn and Eli Lutz create a unique and dark vibe throughout each work of songwriting. The booming bass and vocal chops of Sean Spellman harkens back to older times as well as the present, being very much rooted in blues, funk, hard rock, and metal. And the technical drumming ability of Chase Thompson creates a heavy driving force not unlike the styling’s of Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater, yet he has developed a style all his own.
