Archy & Mehitabel Redux
• Lee Waters and Alexander Horwitz write, perform, and produce all of their work from a recording studio they built together in New York City.
• Alexander's lineage as a composer can be traced all the way back to J.S. Bach, starting with his mentor performance artist Meredith Monk.
• Lee speaks several unusual languages and lived in Siberia for a while because of it.
• They record primarily with Neumann microphones. Harpsichord parts are recorded on an instrument by Zuckerman. Piano parts are played on Steinway instruments.
• Lee's voice is known in classical circles as "Basso Cantante" -- an extremely low register with unusual flexibility and sweetness.
• Alexander's mother is herself an accomplished pianist although these days rides horses most of the time.
• Although both from the same area of the middle of nowhere, Alexander and Lee didn't meet until they were living in the same derelict industrial park in Brooklyn, NY.
