Amit Bashaan began his musical journey at a stage in life which, it would be safe to say, is quite different from the "traditional" path usually taken by musicians.
The Israeli born singer/songwriter spent his childhood and early teens growing up in Johannesburg South Africa where he picked up windsurfing as a hobby.
At age 13 he moved with his family back to Israel where the windsurfing developed into an intense passion.
Amit spent his late teens and early 20's following the call of the wind and the waves to all 4 corners of the globe through countless adventures, but at age 27 a new passion arose and the winds began a changing.
He discovered the joy, beauty and excitement of creating and performing music and the inspiration of writing poetry.
With the flame alight there was but one thing to do, to master the craft.
And so, at age 27 he began to play guitar, study music and acquired the necessary skills that would allow him to pursuit this new passion.
All this was done back in Israel, and during that time he put together and led a band that preformed and recorded some of his songs, which also received radio broadcast from a few of stations in Israel (one of which is the highly regarded 88FM).
The EP titled "It's been So Long" (recorded with a full band) brings together Amit's love of a large and varied scope of musical genres including jazz, folk, world, ethnic, Irish and rock music, to create a unique style and sound.
Amit began assembling the "Bandits" in March 2012 which currently include Gilad jaffe on Ukulele and are expanding to include drum, bass and sax/flute,the full ensamble bringing the full experience of this unique sound to the magical arena of the stage.
