Biography
Aerodrone definitely takes you for a ride you're not expecting with its poppy synth-driven energetic hooks and tounge-in-cheek lyrics that dig in deeper than your familiar current electro pop-fluff band. While borrowing from The Faint, The Killers, and Jimmy Eat World the band also is very much Nine Inch Nails inspired in form, especially with the seductive tune "Hold Me Like A Microphone."
The band formed and got its start in Oregon amidst the music scene at the University of Oregon where they have carved out a significant following before moving to Los Angeles. The group's single "Sceneboy" has spawned a Youtube following and has been described by the Knitting Factory in Hollywood as "destined for great things, at least the conquering of all iPods in the free world" as well as featured in BeatCrave.com's section "LA Bands You Need To Know." The band also got play on LA's Indie 103.1 and as well as LA's leading rock station KROQ. Portland's 94.7FM has also selected Aerodrone as one of the 5 finalists in a contest to open for The Killers
The band has been gigging relentlessly both nationally and regionally with acts like Freezepop, Chromeo, Apoptygma Bezerk and has gotten the Featured Artist Spot on the social giant Myspace.com, MTVU's Band Of The Week as well as top reviews from sites like AbsolutePunk.net. Recently, producer Mark Needham, well known for his work with The Killers, Fleetwood Mac, and Blondie, has been mixing new tracks by the band in his LA studio.
With a Hot Topic distribution deal in hand as well as a marketing deal with Myspace Records, the band continues to push forward with frontman / composer Gary Zon on vocals, Kevin Patrick on guitar, and TZA on keyboards. Additional live members Joel (drums) and Daniel (bass) take the energy up a few notches as can be seem from the live photo section.
The band has been chosen to appear at NACA's Showcase Convention in Portland, OR this November.
