Adam James Sorensen is a Chicago indie folk singer/songwriter. Returning to the midwest in 2009 was the catalyst for writing and recording his new album, MIDWEST. Evoking a reflective and melancholic undertone, MIDWEST presents the songwriter's observations with a clear and honest fragility. New York City, Salt Lake City, Berlin and Edinburgh are some of the locations the singer/songwriter has called home. As his music career kept him recording and touring with artists such as The Blood Oranges, Jerry Joseph, Melvin Sparks, Scott Hamilton, Nostalgia 77 and Neil Cleary for over a decade, his return to Chicago provided a context to both reflect and process.
MIDWEST, has a lush and distinctive sound that embraces his folk, Americana and jazz roots. The album was recorded at Forgiveness Studio with renowned alt-folk producer Evan Brubaker (Edie Carey, Rachel Harrington), and features a remarkable line-up of guest musicians that include violist Eyvind Kang (Bill Frisell, Beck), multi-instrumentalist Mark Spencer (Son Volt, Laura Cantrell), cellist Christopher Hoffman (Henry Threadgill), Seattle songstress Rachel Harrington & mandolin legend Don Stiernberg.
Adam James Sorensen will tour in the U.S. and abroad in support of his new release. Performance dates can be found at: www.adamjamessorensen.com
