AkiaHolt , stage name A'KIA, is a MC and entertainer from the DMV and she is the new era of music! At age 6, melodies, rhymes and music entered into her life and shaped her destiny. At age 14, Akia’s venture into hip hop became inked when she began to collect songs for her first self-released music project, What More Can I Say. After receiving recognition and promotion of the release through Maryland regional publications, Akia continued as a popular high school student participating in choirs and other performing arts activities however the reality of the music business hit her hard with bad record deals and less than honest managers. At 17, Akia took hold of her career and with the industry’s rough lessons learned she is in pursuit of taking the music world by storm.

Akia seeks to be a positive force in the industry not just as an artist but as an overall businesswoman. Akia aims to set a great example by being a positive influence on young adults especially young women. Her motto: be a leader not a follower! Akia’s that possesses that “it” factor that will lead her right to an international stage of music. She follows the examples of her influences which include Kanye West, Eminem and Janelle Monae just to name a few. As a relatively young performer, Akia has also built an impressive performance resume by performing at the New Jersey Music Conference, Morgan State University, and performing along recording artists such as Universal Records, 2Pistolz(Young Money/Cash Money, and Mr. Cheeks (formerly of the Lost Boyz); as well as being featured in Gang Girl.(A movie depicting struggles of young women and gangs rising in New York City). She has also been featured in the Baltimore Afro Newspaper and Street Smart Magazine, and AllHipHop.com.

Akia’s upcoming project, Tomboi Next Door is described as “fun” and “different.” The sound and lyrics encompass her youthful angst and releases the frustration that once held her captive by those who tried to control her career.
