Some people do cover songs to pay the rent, others to pay homage. Marc Cohn's album "Listening Booth" of seminal songs from the year 1970 pays homage and instructs on how if not to own a classic as your own, to at least make a huge payment towards owning it - an example of how his interior equanimity creates onwership equity of another's creation; how to borrow and reshape and remodel, without stealing.

Listening to his album about New Orleans, "Join The Parade" is liking walking down the alley while smelling the roux cooking before Sunday dinner. His songs can transport you to the place he wants you to experience, and this album is a fine example of that talent.
