Probably, for me, no more soulful song than "Whispering Pines" by the Band. Don't know how any popular group was able to put out hits on the old "Top 40" measure that fused rock, folk, gospel, and tight tight musical ability. How did they get it past the program directors! hahaha... plus, last thing, they were daymmn good. Their stuff will still be played 1-2 hundred years later.
